Environment

Cardtronics is committed to minimizing its impact on the environment. We believe in running efficient operations as part of our strategy to reduce our environmental impacts, and to help deliver our business goals. In 2020, we adopted the TCFD as a framework to evaluate the impact of climate change risk on our business. We have undertaken a number of initiatives to reduce our energy use and carbon emissions, including:

Stacked Images
  • Global head office in Houston, Texas, and a major facility in Frisco, Texas, each use natural light and energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified for efficiency and sustainability
  • Low emissions vans and driver telematics to monitor and help save fuel use
  • Cash in Transit recycling just in time ATM replenishment that saves 15-20% on fuel use
  • Consolidated U.K. cash depot facilities from 9 to 3, which helps save energy

The largest source of our carbon emissions is not in our direct operations, but from the electricity used by our ATMs. We are focused on reducing these emissions through adopting more energy-efficient equipment. For example, in the U.K. we are upgrading our ATMs to A* rated efficient hardware.
